We Have Not Fallen Off the Wagon

So I haven’t done a diet up date in a while.  This is not because we’ve fallen off the wagon and are trying to forget we ever tried.  It’s because it has pretty much become our norm instead of our diet.  Of course we deviate from it from time to time, especially with the holidays and we are recovering from that and are getting back on track.  The thing I have noticed is that in general, we are thinking about things differently and making some smarter meal choices.  Sure we ate a fair amount of things that we shouldn’t have, but instead of eating everything we normally would have we only picked a few favorites instead of all of them.  The hard thing is, is we still have a ways to go, so when we put even a little bit of weight back on (seriously, even 5 pounds) we can really feel it.  It’s hard not to be a little discouraged, at least for me because I know my track record.  But I have to look at the positive.  I did not have to dig out any of the clothes that are too big.  I am not going back to that wardrobe, and neither is my David.  It has been harder to get the exercise in, the weather was pretty cold and awful for awhile, and then we both have been experiencing some aches and pains.  David has been a trooper, and has been my hero for keeping me on track.  It’s been nice to have the hateful exercise bike in the house for those really bad days, and it’s nice to be able to walk with David when he works from home.  I need to remember our walks are not just good exercise time for us, it’s also time with my sweetie where it’s just the two of us and the great outdoors.  I cherish my time with him, anyway I can get it. ;)  The other change is now I get to do the cooking.  I’m having to learn some new tricks, and change some of the things I used to cook with, but David assures me that I am catching on quick and so far he hasn’t had to go hungry.  I have to say yet again, that I couldn’t have a better partner on this getting healthy adventure.  Thank you again David for looking out for me, and our future.  Thank you for keeping me on track!  You are doing great, and I’m proud of you!

Damn Book

Stupid "Twilight" sucked me right in.  I read it in a day, it probably took me less than 5 hours.  I was sucked into the mood angsty wanting.  Damn it.  And then there just happened to be a teaser for the next book (which I did not find where I purchased the first book) which I couldn't help but read becaue I needed more.  And it left me frustrated becuase now I'm pretty much dying to find out what happens.  My David understands and loves me, and has ordered all the books for me from Amazon.  Now I just have to wait for Amazon to hurry up and get them to me.  Grr...

I did it...

I finally broke down and bought the first book in the Twilight series.  It seems everywhere I look there is something Twilight related.  I think I am maybe one of the last few people in the world to break down and read it.  It is sitting on the table next to me.  I have not started it yet.  It is either going to be lame, I mean I read a lot of sci-fi/fantasy and I'm always a little weary of the super trendy, or I'm going to get sucked in and I'm not going to get anything done today.  I feel like the book is sitting there staring at me expectantly.  I will keep you posted.

Two words: Wow Za!

Yesterday was a banner day in the home of David and Emily. The day started out innocent enough: we woke up, showered, dressed, ate breakfast, and then, all set for the day, we hopped into my truck and drove to Video Only with a plan of spending an obscene amount of money on new AV components to update our 12 year old and failing "technology". We bought a new HDTV (Samsung LN-52A650), a Yamaha AV receiver (RX-V663) with a nice set of Infinity 5.1 speakers, and a Sony PlayStation 3 for Blu-Ray and gaming goodness. All told we spent about $3300 which was well under the $6000 budget I'd set aside for this.

Last night, we watched our first two Blu-Ray movies: Dark Knight and Hancock. We just sat there in sheer awe of our large screen, awesome sound, and incredible video resolution. It was a religious experience to say the least. We're now looking at our vast collection of DVDs and trying to come up with creative ideas on how we can afford to replace every one with its Blu-Ray counterpart. :)

Since we are under budget, we have decided to add a small flat screen HDTV to our bedroom (nothing very expensive) and we'll add a Logitech Harmony universal remote to the mix to help tame our vast array of component remotes. And I will probably buy a couple more games for the PS3. >.>

Emily and I, in general, are very thrify people, so these purchases have been a long time in coming. But I'm happy with the research I did before spending the money and I am more than happy with what we now have to enjoy. Hopefully, I won't have to repeat this exercise in a very long time.

Life is good.

Our Puppy

Which isn't actually a puppy but rather a kitty.  We just call her puppy.  She is adorable.  I wanted to share some less that quality (I'm retarded with the camera) but really cute photos.

She likes to be as scrunched up against the wall as she can be, it doesn't look comfortable, but she spends a lot of time in this spot.

This is puppy missing David.  We had a wonderful 2 weeks of all of us being home together, and I think puppy has been missing David being around the house.  I found her sacked out in his chair in the office a good part of the day (when she was encouraging me to my chair so she could sit on my lap that is).
